HOW TO REPLACE AN AIR FILTER
Air filter means something that filter the air. For your engine to run, it needs air. The air mixes with fuel, compression occur, the spark plug gives a spark, and combustion takes place. For a good performance of the engine, it needs clean air. The air filter increase the fuel efficie
ncy. Air filters are connected to the engine’s intake manifold. A dirty air filter doesn’t allow air to get through to the engine. Remember, your engine needs air to run efficiently. Engines are big and powerful, but they can be surprisingly sensitive to the smallest grain of sand. Over time, dirt and other particles can cause serious damage to your engine’s internal parts. A reduced amount of air means your engine needs to use more fuel to get the run your engine. For very dusty environment, it is recommended that you change your air filter once every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first.
STEPS TO TAKE IN CHANGING THE AIR FILTER
1. Buy a new air filter.
2. Open your hood and locate the air filter box. It is a black plastic box sitting on top of or to the side of your engine. The filter box usually has a big black hose sticking out of its side.
3. Open the air filter box and remove the old air filter.Just unclamp the big metal clips that hold the top down and open the box or if it is bolt, unscrew the bolts. Remove the dirty filter.
